Hello 2022

Let's hope everything settles down now.

Hello 2022

What a funny old year 2021 was, but I suppose these crazy times have become the norm, let’s hope everything settles down now.

Even with these uncertain times we ware busy and keep striving forward.

2022 looks no different so as always, we’ve got on the front foot and started to improve where we need to, a contract where the old systems don’t work anymore, and expand where we think we need to go.

The message from you our followers, friends, and customers has been to ‘keep pushing your services, that’s what you are good at and that’s what we want’….. So that’s what we are doing.

Out with the old – our Port Isaac shop and flat that we have loved and have been in for 16 years has been returned to the landlord and is being sold, but don’t worry we now have a new smaller, better-positioned booking office, meeting place and Wavehunters merchandise location right on the harbour in Port Isaac.

All our booking offices, Polzeath, Padstow, and Rock will now also stock a Wavehunters basic range of merchandise, which will also be available to purchase online.

You wanted more options for fitness and yoga, so we doubled up on classes.

You wanted more times and more private options for surfing lessons, so we increased the number of lessons we can provide and staggered them every 15 minutes.

You wanted more dedicated SUP classes, so we invested in more kit.

We dedicated a boat to 3-hour private hires, cove swimming, picnics, and wildlife spotting.

We kept semi-private boat trips and reintroduced the two hours pay-per-seat sea safari and the three hour North Cornish Explorer.

We introduced the Water Taxi, all you wanted was consistency, so we ran her every night all season and then even ran a winter timetable.

We allowed you to oversee your booking process and focussed on a new streamlined online booking system. We hired more seasonal booking staff and increased our full-time team.

We are still busy in the office, and we will soon hopefully have more news on our plans for 2022.

More importantly, as a team, we managed to get through another tricky year, by sticking together and staying close. We had some massive personal highs with the birth of the latest Wavehunter, Frank, and we’ve also been part of some tough lows with one of our full-time team members’ family illnesses. It’s in these times when we stop being a business and kick back into the family.

2022 is no doubt going to be crazy, with I imagine plenty of highs and lows. follow us on social media and see our day-to-day journey.
