Throughout the spring and summer season our evening Water Taxi takes over from the day-time Harbour Ferry.  We operate everyday from 18.00 till late, offering you a convenient crossing/return home each evening from a night out.  Peace of mind after a delicious meal or evening walk from either Rock or Padstow.  If you do not see us at your side of the estuary simply call our skipper on 07778105297 when operating.

Our 10-meter jet-powered catamaran is registered for 12 passengers and has both outside seating, and a comfortable heated inside cabin for any weather.

FAQs

  • Can I book a specific time for the Water Taxi?

No in peak season we operate as a shuttle service crossing every 10 minutes (maximum twelve passengers per crossing) Your ticket is valid until 11pm. Simply turn up, show your confirmation email and name and jump on the next available trip. Just like a bus or train pre-booking your ticket does not bypass any queue waiting at peak times but it does help speed up boarding and payments to keep everyone moving swiftly.

  • Can I bring a dog/bicycle?

Yes we allow a maximum of 6 per crossing. Dogs are free! Bicycles are £2.50. All subject to skippers approval on the evening.

  • How accessible is the taxi?

We will do our best to accommodate everyone wishing to travel however please note the taxi does operate from slipways requiring you to step onto the taxi and at low tides to walk across exposed sandy beach in front of the slipways making it potentially difficult to safely guarantee access for wheelchair users. Please call us on 0777 810 5297 with specific details and we will do our very best. It is not suitable for powered mobility scooters/chairs, sorry.

  • How do I contact the taxi?

On quieter evenings we may simply berth at one side. You can see our location live on our water taxi webpage and/or call the skipper after 18.45 on the night (0777 810 5297).

  • What if I want to travel after 11pm?

Your ticket is valid for departures from 18.00 onwards until 23.00 only After that we charge an additional late night tariff of £10 per person payable on boarding by card. (Please note after 23.00 is subject to availability on a first come basis payable on boarding only. Please always check with our water taxi team on the night as availability may be limited)

  • What is your operating timetable?

We run every day from April to October from 18.00 to 23.00* The crossing takes approximately 5-10 minutes. A winter schedule will be announced in October. *Estuary conditions and tides sometimes create additional difficulties for navigation during the hours of darkness. Our skippers will let you know if there are any restrictions necessary.

  • What should I wear?

Please always come dressed for the weather forecast. We have seating for 12 outdoors to enjoy the views on pleasant evenings and when the weather is poor we have a heated indoor cabin for the short journey. As the ferry sometimes returns to sand at low tides it is always advisable to wear footwear to match.

  • Where do you board?

At Rock From the slip way near to Rock Beach Car Park . At Padstow On higher tides : South Slip (In town outside Old Custom House/Harbour office) On lower tides : Ferry Slip (Far end of harbour at start of the outer breakwater) If in doubt please call the water taxi on 0777 810 5297 for direction or see follow live position online.
