Wavehunters Covid Charter

As we prepare to open again this spring we have been working hard behind the scenes to further refine our Covid secure procedures. We closely follow government, statutory body and harbour master guidlines and have created a Wavehunters Covid Charter, which outlines what we promise to do and what we expect our customers to do in order to keep everyone safe. We have been awarded Visit Britain’s ‘Good To Go’ certification, which further demonstrates are commitment to operating in a safe way for our staff, visitors and local community.

The very nature of our business means that we operate our activities outside, a scientifically proven safer environment than indoors, however we do expect a high number of visitors again this year and so we have developed stringent procedures to mitigate risk.

BOOKING

We strongly advise advance online booking to minimise unnecessary person-to-person contact and to avoid disappointment. We’ve invested to make this as easy as possible on our website, however we are always just at the end of the phone. At booking sites indoor space has been minimised, but where unavoidable this has been redesigned to be well ventilated and we have installed Covid Screens and PPE equipment at desks/point of sale. We request that you adhere to government guidelines surrounding the use of face masks as required indoors, keeping your distance from those not in your household and using hand sanitiser regularly.

HIRE, ACTIVITY AND BOOKING LOCATIONS

Our boat drivers, surf instructors and managers are trained at all locations to ensure the space, hands and face guidance is followed at all times. All safety briefings and equipment are provided in open air locations with clear social distancing signage, positive staff messaging, staggered start times and one way systems in place wherever possible.

EQUIPMENT

All our equipment is rotated and sanitised in line with government guidelines after each lesson, trip and hire. We request that you adhere to government guidelines regarding use of hand sanitiser and ensure that you are fit and well to take part in your chosen activity (see responsible fun below).

LESSONS & TRIPS

We will continue to run our lessons and trips in affordable private groups that comply with guidance on outdoor gatherings and ‘household’ mixing. If these guidelines relax we will offer limited ‘traditional’ single seat trips and open group lessons again for those that request it. When we redesigned our trips and lessons for 2020 we were overwhelmed with the positive feedback and popularity of private options. So, semi private, mini private trips and private charters will stay, to offer you the most affordable way to take to the sea minimising your contact with others. Our popular private surf lessons are also back this year with one on one instruction and social distancing.

RESPONSIBLE FUN

We provide safe environments, training and PPE to all our staff. Our staff are required to undertake daily health checks. Any symptoms of Covid must be reported to team managers. Staff will be removed from work, instructed to self isolate and seek a test in line with government guidance. Disruption to trips and lessons in any event will be kept to a minimum. We ask that you only attend your lesson or trip while in good health. If you experience any of the symptoms of Covid, or have come into contact with someone experiencing symptoms or who has tested positive, we ask that you do not attend your activity and to follow government guidance surrounding testing and quarantining. We also require that you do not travel from a tier/area/country where the official guidance is to not travel. For peace of mind we have introduced our Book With Confidence Pledge which is our promise to hold and rebook your activity or booking free of charge for up to 18 months and if that’s not possible to refund your booking accordingly.
