What’s going on here…Let’s talk about Surfer’s Ear… At the start of the year Mr.Wavehunter, aka Andy, had both his ears operated on for Surfer’s Ear by James Rainsbury, an ENT surgeon at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, who specializes in disorders of the ear (www.rainsburypartners.co.uk). Andy felt passionate about the health of the Surf and Marine team at Wavehunters, so he arrangend an ear health check and earplug fitting for the team if they wanted it with the best there is @moulded.earplugs … Post-surgery, Andy met with James again to discuss a little more about Surfer’s Ear, the cause, the symptoms, and the prevention. Turns out we do have a competitor in the surf and marine industry…. ! On Tuesday evening around 5 pm this chap was aiming for Padstow and unfortunately went towards the wrong lights and ended up having a front row property on Polzeath for a whole day. This isn’t the first time this has happened, it’s not that unusual to hear vessels asking for assistance on VHF because they can’t find the entrance to Padstow. Did you know the ‘Day Marker’ or the tower on top of stepper point was built exactly for this reason. On Wednesday, over the high tide at 4pm the vessel was successfully towed to Padstow harbour. All’s well that ends well, but probably a pretty scary experience for the skipper! We have a few more days of the season with cracking weather, so if you do want a surf or a boat trip (not at the same time) we can help.
