Taghazoute, just north of Agadir on the coast of Morocco, has gained
world class fame for its four quality reef and point breaks in
one area. The climate is warm all year round (average temperature
22-25°C) and with numerous breaks both north and south. True
Wavehunters will be rewarded. The Animal Surf Academy (ASA) Morocco operated by Wavehunters offers authentic Moroccan villa-style accommodation in the surfing village of Taghazoute. This is about 20 minutes north of Agadir, which in turn is a four hour flight from the UK. The most popular flight to catch is the BA service from London-Gatwick on either a Wednesday or a Saturday.
The Wavehunters lodge in Taghazoute provides western-style bathrooms, as well as sea views and is only a short walk from local small shops, restaurants and several beach and point breaks. Amazing sea views over Anchor Point are literally within a stones throw – you really can see the line-up from your bed.
Taghazoute itself is a traditional Moroccan fishing village, and offers several traditional-style restaurants, as well as a few local stores. There is one bar that serves alcohol and a few Moroccan surf shops.
The night life is ideal for sipping a few cold ones while watching
the awesome sun sets. If you want a more ‘high paced’ night
life, then head 10 kms south to the tourist destination of Agadir, it’s
numerous bars and clubs won’t fail to entertain.
The nearest major shopping centres are in Agadir, which also has supermarkets and cash points. We also have beer at the Lodge!
